This course provides an introduction to the ethical principles and confidentiality standards that guide the fields of psychology and social work. Participants will explore key ethical frameworks, including the NASW Code of Ethics and APA Ethical Principles, and learn how these guidelines shape professional decision-making. The course will cover critical topics such as client confidentiality, mandated reporting, informed consent, dual relationships, and ethical dilemmas commonly encountered in practice. Through discussions and case studies, students will engage in real-world applications of ethical principles and develop strategies for navigating complex ethical scenarios. By the end of this course, participants will have a foundational understanding of ethical practice in mental health fields and the importance of maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality in therapeutic settings.
