This course explores the ethical considerations unique to crisis intervention and trauma-informed care in psychology and social work. Participants will examine the principles of trauma-informed practice, emphasizing safety, trustworthiness, empowerment, and cultural sensitivity. The course will address ethical dilemmas commonly encountered in crisis situations, including issues related to client autonomy, confidentiality, mandated reporting, and duty to warn. Through case studies and discussions, students will analyze real-world scenarios, learning how to navigate ethical complexities while prioritizing client well-being. By the end of this course, participants will gain a deeper understanding of ethical responsibilities in trauma care and develop strategies for maintaining professional integrity while working with individuals in crisis.
