This course provides an overview of psychodynamic psychotherapy, a therapeutic approach rooted in exploring unconscious processes, early life experiences, and their influence on present behavior. Participants will learn key concepts such as transference, countertransference, defense mechanisms, and attachment theory. The course will also introduce techniques used in psychodynamic therapy, including free association, interpretation, and exploring past relationships to understand present challenges. Through discussions and case studies, students will gain insights into how psychodynamic therapy is applied in clinical practice and how it differs from other therapeutic modalities. By the end of this course, participants will have a foundational understanding of psychodynamic principles and their role in mental health treatment.
