Will Cerf is a dedicated and experienced therapist at Tristate Psychotherapy Group, licensed in New York and Connecticut. He received his Master of Social Work from the New York University Silver School of Social Work. Will’s comprehensive training and academic background have equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality mental health services to his clients.
With a diverse professional history, Will brings valuable experience from multiple settings that have contributed to his effectiveness as a clinician. His background includes work as a substance abuse counselor, high school guidance counselor, and sober coach. These roles have given him a deep understanding of addiction and recovery, and taught him to look beyond symptoms to the emotional, relational, and behavioral patterns that shape a person’s life.
Will specializes in addiction, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, young adult mental health, and stress management and emotional regulation. He works with young adults and adults ages 18 to 35. He employs various therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention Strategies, and Strength-Based Practice. His approach balances genuine compassion with practical, honest support. Understanding that meaningful change is rarely linear and often uncomfortable, Will meets clients without judgment wherever they are in the process. He creates a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest, while offering concrete tools that help them move toward lasting change.
